'Wilson Lacigam's Bentley'

by
Tony Edwards

Time's up for Wilson Lacigam [say Lassygam], the parking ticket on his Bentley a silent witness to the barrister's fatal heart attack. The hereafter beckons but he is speedily returned to the here-and-now with an urgent brief to prepare the way for the imminent arrival of a Master spirit, a modern day Messiah.

Wilson traces the new owner of his beloved Bentley, the somewhat unspiritual London property developer Paul Hart, and persuades him to sponsor a celebrity launch for the Master spirit and the publication of his 'Handbook For The Soul', an 8-page booklet explaining the Universal Rules of life and death.

Cue a crack PR team with a brief to transform the quiet and unassuming Chris Newman - a young man with world-shattering ideas but lousy dress sense - into a high-profile media personality and all that goes with it.

But presented with the unwelcome prospect of his philosophies being hyped like a 'pop' record and lumped together with the world's pompous, pre-packaged, religions, the 'Master' must find another way to present his simple truth to a cynical audience.
