A Strange Coincidence
I have to admit I’d never heard of Iain Banks until June 9th when his death was announced on TV. I was in Portugal at the time and, later the same day, visited the Quinta Do Lago country club’s small library to borrow a book. I leant on a shelf which promptly collapsed – and some 40 books with it. One landed at my feet – ‘The Wasp Factory’ by Iain Banks. I read it in one day and was impressed with Iain Banks’ slightly Stephen King style of writing. I’m pleased I found him and his work and still wondering about the curious coincidence.
